Fighting for Appointments: When No Doesn't Mean No

If I'm honest, I don't like writing about any of this. I hate bringing to the surface the words and hurt and pain this season is causing us.

I didn't write anything the last two days. We were in Dallas visiting doctors. Monday morning we sat at the table and called every oncologist and hospital within a 500 mile radius of us.

Same response from all of them.

What's your name?

What's your date of birth?

Who's your insurance?

Ok, we will check with your insurance and get back to you. It usually takes 2-4 weeks before we can get you in.

Click.

And yet, I lead generate for a living.

No doesn't mean no to me.

It means not yet. It means one more phone call. It means keep knocking on doors and if all else fails, bust it down.

Bob Goff tells the story of showing up to the admissions office for law school every day until they finally let him in.

I will do the same if that's what it takes to be seen.

And then, finally, a call back.

He can get you in tomorrow at 2pm.

We'll be there.

Wait, where are you? I've called 50 different places today.

We are in Dallas.

I'm booking our flights now.

Love, the Murrays
